Ash Plywood Drawing Desk – CNC

During my time at Purdue University, I enrolled in a sustainable furniture elective and designed a drawing desk with an incorporated light box for tracing, as well as storage for stationery and paper. The manufacturing process involved using CNC technology to cut 1 inch thick Ash plywood, which was then laminated together to create the desk.

The light box feature of the desk was intended to provide artists and designers with a convenient way to trace their sketches and designs, while the storage compartments allowed for easy organization and access to stationery and paper. The desk was designed to be functional, ergonomic, and aesthetically pleasing, with clean lines and a modern look.

Throughout the design process, I paid close attention to the environmental impact of the materials used and made sure to choose options that were sustainable and eco-friendly. This project allowed me to hone my skills in furniture design and incorporate sustainability principles into my work, which I believe is crucial in today’s world.
